About This Tour
Explore the historic Baiae Thermal Baths, the scenic Bourbon Park of Fusaro, and the ancient Roman Piscina Mirabilis on this journey through the Phlegraean Waters
We will begin this wonderful tour at the archaeological site of the Baiae Thermal Baths, a stratification of constructions, villas, and thermal complexes belonging to a historical period from the late Republican age to the Augustan age. Among the most significant remains are the large Temple of Diana, the Temple of Mercury, and the Temple of Venus with a wonderful sea view. We will continue our tour by visiting the Bourbon Park of Fusaro, commissioned by Ferdinand IV of Bourbon, who had a small Royal Hunting Lodge built by Carlo Vanvitelli, son of the famous Luigi, architect of the Palace of Versailles. Indeed, the lodge is better known as the "Vanvitellian Lodge". We will conclude our tour with a visit to the Piscina Mirabilis, a large cistern built by the ancient Romans for water supply.
