About This Tour
Exploring Ancient Mysteries and Majestic Views
We will begin this journey through time from the first Campanian urban settlement. Contrary to popular belief, the first Greeks, after landing first in Pithecusa (Ischia), disembarked in Cumae and then on the islet of Megaride, where the city of Parthenope was born. In fact, in the Archaeological Site of Cumae, we will find the remains of an ancient city, but more significant is the Sibyl's cave, a long triangular gallery, preamble to the Sibyl's chamber, a priestess who had the power to converse with the gods and foretell good or bad luck. Subsequently, we will move to the Aragonese Castle of Baia, built at the end of the 1400s by the will of Alfonso II of Aragon and now used as a museum center for countless findings from the Phlegraean area. Its view is splendid, as the castle, being situated on a hill, has a wonderful view over the entire Phlegraean Gulf, and in the distance, Capri and Vesuvius can also be seen. We will conclude our tour by admiring the beautiful mural of the Cumae Sibyl by Jorit, a tribute from the famous street artist to the legend and history of this enchanting land.
