About This Tour
A Dive into Ancient Luxuries: The Baia Thermal Park
The extraordinary Archaeological Park of Baia rises along the coast of the Phlegraean Fields. Here, we will admire the remains of various residences and thermal complexes from the Roman era. Within the archaeological area, we will visit several buildings: the impressive remains of thermal and hydraulic facilities, the so-called "temples" (actually baths) of Mercury, Venus, Diana, and the baths of Sosandra. We will continue our tour by moving to the port in front of the archaeological park, where a boat will be waiting to navigate along the coast. From large windows, we will especially see the submerged park of Baia, a section of villas that were part of the thermal complex but have been submerged over time due to bradyseism. Through the large windows, we will be able to admire statues, nymphaea, and mosaics.

Tour Plan
Expand allCollapse allVillas of Ambulatio and Sosandra
Located at the park entrance, with five or more levels of rooms distributed along the slope, connected by ramps or painted staircases. This layout allowed for full enjoyment of the landscape, open towards Vesuvius, Sorrento, and Capri.
Small baths, also known as “Venus' rooms”
Built for a much smaller number of visitors but equipped with all comforts and rich decoration, some of which is still preserved. Adjacent to the rooms, one can also admire the temple dedicated to the deity from the outside.
Temple of Mercury
Also known as "truglio" due to its circular shape: The building was a frigidarium, used for cold baths.
